GREAT PARK CHAIRMAN CARROLL INVITES YOU TO FIESTA LATINA
Join us at Fiesta Latina on Sunday, September 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Great Park. This free, family-friendly event celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month and honors generations of Latin American individuals whose histories, cultures, and contributions have enriched our nation and community. Guests can enjoy live music, food trucks, art demonstrations, crafts, a pop-up art exhibition, and visit with local partners who will share resources and cultural traditions. VOLUNTEER WITH THE FOOD SECURITY PROGRAM
If you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back, volunteer with the the Community Action Partnership of Orange County program by helping hundreds of families and individuals in need. In partnership with CAPOC, Irvine is providing free monthly grocery boxes to residents of all ages, with the help of community volunteers. Each box weighs about 30 pounds and volunteers are needed for food drop-off, packaging, distribution, and food-box delivery. For information and to sign up, see more.
COUNCILMEMBER CARROLL INVITES YOU TO COMEDY UNLEASHED
The Irvine Animal Care Center presents the ninth annual Comedy Unleashed on Tuesday, September 16, at the Irvine Improv, 527 Spectrum Center Dr, Irvine. Guests will enjoy dinner and live entertainment featuring comedians Joe Sib, Willie Simon, and Kat Bird, with proceeds supporting life-saving programs for animals in need. NONPROFIT WEEK
Mark your calendars for Nonprofit Week from September 30 – October 4, where professionals and volunteers serving the Irvine community come together for networking, collaboration, and learning. Highlights include an opening reception with keynote speaker Lindsey Spindle, President of Samueli Family Philanthropies on September 30 at The Pools in Great Park Neighborhoods; a Networking Mini Conference on October 1 at Irvine City Hall with panel discussions on issues such as affordable housing and behavioral health; and a Healthy Living Expo Community Resource Fair on October 4 at Irvine City Hall, featuring resources to support wellness for residents of all ages. IRVINE POLICE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE
The Irvine Police Department Open House will take place on Saturday, September 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Irvine Civic Center. Come celebrate 50 years of service, meet officers and staff, see K-9 and motorcycle demonstrations, and explore police vehicles. Families can also enjoy activities, food trucks, photo opportunities, and giveaways. The first 200 guests will receive a mystery gift! Parking is available at Colonel Bill Barber Memorial Park, Creekside High School, and Free Chapel, with free shuttle service from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. For event details, see more.
