COUNCILMEMBER CARROLL’S REMARKS ON THE NUCLEAR WASTE AT THE SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
At the Special City Council Meeting regarding public safety concerns regarding the spent nuclear fuel being temporarily stored next to the Pacific Ocean, I expressed my support and appreciation to the Council, as well as to the engaged residents, experts, and advocates who spoke about this issue. I wrote a New York Times bestselling book about the dangers of hazardous biological laboratory research conducted on Plum Island in New York. It is imperative that local action be taken to safely and permanently relocate this waste. To watch my statement, see more.

UC IRVINE ENGINEERING STUDENTS RECREATING WORLD WAR I ERA BIPLANE FOR THE GREAT PARK
UC Irvine engineering students are undertaking the remarkable task of building a full-scale replica of the Curtiss JN-4 “Jenny,” a World War I Marine Corps biplane, to be showcased at the future Flying Leathernecks Aviation Museum at the Great Park. As Chairman of the Great Park, I am proud to see this collaboration come to life, honoring the legacy of the Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, while inspiring the next generation of engineers. The addition of the "Jenny" will grow our community’s connection to history and reflect the spirit of innovation that defines Irvine. To read the full story, see more.
